Four injured as communities clash in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: A skirmish between two communities left four people injured in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh district Thursday, police said.

It happened when a heated argument at a tea stall in Raniganj town turned violent.

"The argument snowballed into a clash during which members from both communities indulged in heavy brick batting and attacked one another with wooden sticks," Deputy Superintendent of Police Shivaji Shukla told reporters.

Some shops were torched too.

"We still don't know the issue that led to the verbal duel. The injured have been admitted to hospital. The situation is still tense, but well under control," Shukla said.
