In Karnataka Malegaon blast accused depicted as ‘Dharma Savior’

Friday October 07, 2011 06:10:51 PM, Agencies

Mangalore: In a shocking incident in BJP ruled Karnataka state, a youth association from Ullal town near Mangalore has put up a hoarding to mark the Dassehra by projecting Sadhvi Pragya Singh, an accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case as a savior, a media report claimed.

A youth association called Om Shakti Friends had put up this hoarding with a photo of Sadhvi Pragya Singh, a prime accused in Malegaon blasts and a shloka from Bhagvad Gita reading, “Yada yada hi dharmasya/ glanir bhavati bharatha/ abhyuthanam adharmasya/ tadatmanam srijami aham ” ('Whenever there is a decline in righteousness, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of unrighteousness, at that time I descend Myself).

Though the scandalous hoarding and a welcome arch named as ‘Sadhvi Pragya Singh Dwar’ were erected three days back creating uneasy and anxious atmosphere among the peace loving Mangaloreans, police failed to remove it before Thursday, news portal newzfirst.com said in its report.

Seemanth Kumar Singh, Commissioner of Police, Mangalore said that the police is issuing notices to the group asking them whether they had permission to put up the poster and to respond on the contents of the poster.

He said if it was found to incite violence, action would be taken.
