Patna: A village panchayat in Bihar Saturday ordered social boycott of family of Manoj Kumar, 25, who allegedly raped the five-year-old-girl in Delhi, police said.

"The village panchayat has decided to socially boycott the family of Manoj and appealed to villagers to have no connection with them," a police official said.

The decision of the social boycott was taken in a meeting of the panchayat, police said.

Manoj who allegedly raped the girl after confining her in his Gandhi Nagar room in east Delhi, is from Bharthua village in Muzaffarpur.

The panchayat requested people not to drink water, eat food and not to marry their son or daughter in his family.

On the other hand, hundreds of angry activists of Aam Admi Party (AAP) protested near the Patna Airport and demanded to hand over Manoj to them to punish him.

"Workers of the Aam Admi Party shouted slogans, blocked roads and demanded police to hand over the arrested accused to them," a police official said.

According to police, Manoj was brought to Patna from Muzaffarpur and will be taken to Delhi.

The girl was abducted April 15 and kept hostage for two days without food and water in a room in which the attacker lived, on the ground floor of the building in east Delhi's Gandhi Nagar, in which the victim's family also stayed.

The minor is undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
