Hyderabad: Akbaruddin Owaisi, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader & a legislator from Chandrayangutta area, on Thursday was attacked by Telangana protestors near Kottur in Mahboob nagar district.
Police had to baton charge the protestors who attacked Owais's car and damaged the windowpanes, local media reported.
Tension prevailed near J P Dargah when the MIM MLA was stopped by protestors, Siasat quoted the police as saying.
Raising slogans of 'Jai Telangana', they sat on the road and blocked the car.
Some of the protestors pelted stones, damaging the windowpanes.
Police had a tough time in controlling the mob.
The MLA managed to leave the place under tight security.
TRS leaders condemn the attack on Akbar Owaisi's vehicle saying that the act was done by its cadre.
