Sangli (Maharashrashtra): Parveen Kinikar, who received her early education from a Municipal Urdu School of Islampur – some 50 kms from here, was among the 11 gold medallists felicitated by noted industrialist Rata Tata on Sunday.
Parvin Kinikar, who hails from Islampur's middle class Muslim family, topped the college while doing M.Tech (Electronics) with specialisation in Digital System. She was felicitated by Ratan Tata during the 30th convocation of Rajaram Bapu Institute of Technology held on November 10. Rajaram Bapu Institute of Technology, founded by Jayant Patilm - a minister in the Maharashtra government, is an autonomous institute affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
Crediting her success to her family, she said, "Medium of instruction is not a barrier. If you are committed and properly plan your career, there is no reason why you should not achieve your target", a beaming Parveen said while talking to ummid.com.
Before M.Tech., Parvin had completed B.E. with Electronics & Telecommunication from the same college. She was ranked 9th in the entire university in the final year exam of B.E.
Earlier, she studied a Municipal Urdu School till 7th standard and later passed Class 10 from HMS Urdu High School, Islampur. She passed HSC from Vidya Mandir Junior College.
After completing B.E. she worked at Rajaram Bapu Institute of Technology for two years as a lecturer.
A gold medallist in M.Tech now, she plans to re-start her career as a lecturer but intends to join a government college for the same job.
