Mumbai: In a touching tribute to Prophet Mohammad's daughter, and in an attempt to show her as role-model to girl students, the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Executive Council renamed the Engineering Hall for Girls as 'Bibi Fatima Hall'.
AMU Registrar Group Captain Shahrukh Shamshad (Retd), said that the decision to rename the Engineering Hall for Girls after the Prophet's daughter was taken in the ordinary meeting of Executive Council held last month.
Provost of the Hall, Dr. (Mrs.) Nakhat Nasreen said that a panel of five names was sent to the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah (Retd.), who on his visit to the Hall on its annual function, declared it as Bibi Fatima Hall.
Dr. Nasreen said that the Provost, wardens and students of the hall have expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for granting approval to the renaming of the Hall.
They also thanked the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Brig. S. Ahmad Ali (Retd.) for installation of new sign board at the gate of the Hall.
