Mumbai: The online registrations for Common Admission Test (CAT), conducted for admissions to MBA programmes at Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other institutes across the country has begun, officials said.
Candidates are required to log-in to the official website in order to register for the session 2014. Last date for registeration is September 30. The official link for the registration is: https://iimcat.ac.in/EForms/Mock/Web_App_Template/756/1/index.html?1@@1@@1#!
A candidate must hold a bachelor's degree, with at least 50 per cent marks or equivalent CGPA in order to apply.
Candidates should insert their name, date of birth, e-mail address, country and mobile number correctly before clicking on submit button in the Registeration form as once the registration in complete, it cannot be changed.
Thereafter, candidates will receive the User ID in the registered e-mail address and Password as SMS on the registered mobile number.
Candidates should then login using the User ID and password to complete the applications for CAT 2014.
IIM Indore will be conducting the CAT 2014 exam on November 16 and November 22.
The equating/scaling process will be announced prior to CAT 2014 examination - November 16 and 22, 2014 - to avoid confusion among the aspirants.
CAT 2014 has undergone certain changes in paper pattern. The existing 140-minute time duration for CAT has been increased to 170 minutes.
Questions in each section have been increased to 50 in each section from the existing 30 questions.
Candidates have the flexibility to devote more or less time to each section according to their ability. One can switch over from one section to another section at any point during the examination timing.
CAT 2014 Registration video available at the official website says aspirants can now apply to 19 IIMs. These new Indian Institutes of Management will be launched in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Punjab from academic session 2015-16.
"You can also apply for the post graduate programme in the proposed new six IIMs," states the video.
At present, there are 13 IIMs in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Kozhikode, Indore, Shillong, Tiruchirappalli, Raipur, Udaipur, Rohtak, Ranchi and Kashipur. In Budget 2014, Arun Jaitley proposed five new IIMs.
However, the number was later increased to six.
