The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Bihar Saturday accused Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi of pressurizing the police to cover up a sex-scandal in which his own son and a woman cop are involved, demanding their immidiate arrests.

The Bihar police however denied the allegations of any pressures saying that the matter is being probed.

Praveen Manjhi along with a female cop in civil dress and his friends arrived at R.K Palace in Bodh Gaya on Tuesday evening, and booked deluxe suites for two-three hours, media reports said quoting their sources.

Sources revealed that the woman cop had accompanied Praveen to this hotel in the past several times. But on Tuesday matters worsened when Praveen allegedly refused to repay old debts which further led to skirmish with the hotel staff.

Using the scandal to its advantage, the opposition Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a massive attack on the government, seeking the arrest of Manjhi’s son and the resignation of the chief minister on moral grounds.

BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi alleged that the state police had in fact caught Praveen Manjhi red-handed indulging in an adulterous activity.

He said that their are efforts underway to cover up the matter and no FIR had been lodged yet in the case.

"Due to Nitish Kumar.and Jeetan Ram Manjhi' intervention the police balks at the matter", he alleged.

Jitan Ram Manji was handed power in May this year by his successor Nitish Kumar who resigned from his post taking responsibility for his party’s disastrous performance in the recent Lok Sabha polls.
