Minorities panel chief supports Bharat Ratna for Sir Syed

National Commission for Minorities (NCM) chairman Naseem Ahmad Saturday supported demands to confer the Bharat Ratna on Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

Ahmed, a former AMU vice chancellor, also released two books, "Sir Syed aur unki khidmaat (Sir Syed and his contribution)" written by Jasim Mohammad and "Sir Syed ke Muntakhab Mazameen (The collected essays of Sir Syed)" compiled by Prof. Razaullah Khan at a programme organized by Millat Bedari Muhim Committee (MBMC) and The Aligarh Movement magazine.

He also signed a petition demanding Bharat Ratna to Sir syed, whom, he termed a silent revolutionary who had not only transformed the education pattern in Indian sub-continent but also focused on social reforms.
