Twitterites on #BlockNarendraModi spree after reports that PM Modi follows trolls

Mumbai: A number of Twitterites are now posting messages and sharing screenshots with #BlockNarendraModi hashtag which started trending on Twitter, soon after reports came that some of the popular micro blogging site users, who abused Gauri Lankesh and celebrated her brutal murder, are being followed by Prime Minister Modi.

The one such #BlockNarendraModi which is widely shared is by Vidyut‏ @Vidyut. She blocked Prime Minister Modi and wrote:

Gauri Lankesh - the renowned journalist was shot dead in Bengaluru on Tuesday. Gauri, a staunch critic of the Hindutva politics, was on Wednedsay evening buried in a cemetray in the Karnataka capital with full state honour.

Some Twitter users, who proudly mentioned in their profile that they were among the 1,779 lucky followed by Prime Minister Modi, used abusive language about Gauri Lankesh.

The post by one such Twitter user Nikhil Dadhich (@nikhildadhich) who claimed to be a garment manufacturer, stood out because of its cruel and abusive choice of words. He wrote: "Ek kuttiya kutte ki maut kya mari, saare pille ek sur mein bilbila rahe hain" (It took a bitch to die a dog's death, for all pups to howl in the same tune).

The unwrranted posts invited the wrath of activists and journalists, and led by NDTV scribe Ravish Kumar they urged Prime Minister Modi to unfollow such people.

The #BlockNarendraModi campaign however was not without response from the supporters of Prime Minister Modi. Soon after it started trending on Twitter they came out with #BlockArvindKejriwal and #BlockOfficeOfRG hashtags.
