Hajj 2019: The Haj Committee of India Thursday received the official confirmation of additional quota of 14,975 seats which it distributed among the 14 states based on their Muslim population.
India was initially allocated based on population of Muslims in the country a Haj quota of around 1.70 lakh by Saudi Government. In 2018 however 175,025 pilgrims performed haj as the Saudi government accepting requests by the Modi government increased India's quota by 5,025.
The country was allocated an additional quota of 25,000 seats during Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's India visit in February this year. With the additional seats of 25000, India's Haj quota has increased to 200,0000 of which 30% seats are allocated to Private Tour Operators (PTO).
"Ministry of Minority Affairs (Haj Division) vide letter F. No. 7/1/2019-Haj, dated 05.01.2019 communicated the approval of Competent Authority for the distribution of additional seats allocated to India for Haj-20 19 in the Annual Bilateral Agreement between India and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)", the Haj Committee of India said.
"As per approval on the E-Haj portal of Ministry of Haj, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and e-mail vide reference No.CG/JED/2019 received from Consul General, CGI leddah dated 18.04.2019, the quota of Haj Committee of lndia is now 1,40,000 after the increase of 14,975 seats", it added.
"The additional quota of 14,975 seats are distributed as per Muslim Population in different states. The wait-listed pilgrims for Haj-2019 are provisionally selected in terms of Guidelines for Haj-20 19 against the seats available due to additional quota", it said.
"The aforesaid provisionally selected pilgrims are required to deposit both Advance Haj Amount and First Balance Amount (i.e. Rs.81,0001- + Rs.1,20,0001- = Rs.2,01,000/each)
Payments can be made either:
a. Online at http://hajcommittee.gov.in ; or b. In Haj Committee of India account No. 32175020010 FEE TYPE-25 maintained with SBI; or account No. 318702010406009 (Haj Account) maintained with UBI through any branch of SBIIUBI having core Banking System. c. By cheque of any branch of SBI/UBI in favour of the respective Bank.
"These provisionally selected pilgrims may be advised that after depositing the amount, original valid machine readable International passport with one colour photograph attached to the back of passport with adhesive tape, pay-in-slip of the deposited amount along with Medical Screening and Fitness Certificate should be submitted to their respective State Haj Committee on or before 02.05.2019", the Haj Committee of India said.
According to statewise distribution of Haj 2019 additional seats, Chhatisgarh had got 95 seats, Delhi (NCR) 397 seats, Gujarat 1075 seats, Haryana 328 seats, Jammu & Kashmir 1576 seats, Karnataka 1452 seats, Kerala 1632 seats, Madhya Pradesh 878 seats, Maharashtra 2387 seats, Rajasthan 1143 seatsTamil Nadu 778 seats, Uttar Pradesh 2154 seats, Uttarakhand 259 seats and Telangana 821 seats.
