Begusarai (Bihar): The latest buzz taking round in Bihar and elsewhere in the country is that Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Congress Mahagathbandhan is considering to withdraw its candidate Tanveer Hassan from the 2019 Lok Sabha Poll battle in Begusarai.
Talks of Tanveer Hassan's withdrawal first began after Jetin Ram Manjhi, former Bihar Chief Minister and one of the leaders of Mahagathbandhan, said people like Kanhaiya Kumar should be in Parliament.
"I strongly feel that young leaders like Kanhaiya Kumar should win and enter the Parliament", he said while talking to TV reporters, though adding that it was his personal view.
When asked about his response RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav refused a comment saying he had not read ot heard what Manjhi had said.
"I do not yet know what exactly Manjhi has said. Till I know about his exact statement, I can't comment on it", he said.
However, days later talking to a leading Endglish daily Yadav shows his sift corner towards Kanhaiya Kumar saying the aim in Begusarai and elsewhere is to defeat BJP not others.
"For me it doesn't matter who wins from Begusarai - Tanveer Hassan or Kanhaiya Kumar. Our main target is to defeat BJP - not only in Begusarai but all across the country", he reportedly said.
Besides Kanhaiya Kumar of CPI and Tanveer Hassan of RJD-Congress Mahagathbandhan, union minister and controversial BJP leader Giriraj Singh is in fray for the 2019 election battle in Bigusarai. All three have filed their nomination papers.
Reports coming from Bihar also said that Mahagathbandhan leaders are also under pressure because of the huge turnout of people in Begusarai when Kanhaiya Kumar filed his nomination papers Tuesday.
There is also a feeling that Mahagathbandhan is currently lacking in enough number of campaigners to take on JD(U) and BJP alliance. It is said that if Mahagathbandhan withdraws its candidate from Begusarai, Kanhaiya Kumar can camapaign as its star campaigner in whole of Bihar.
Begusarai Lok Sabha constituency comprises seven Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly) segments. They are Cheria Bariarpur, Bachhwara, Teghra, Matihani, Sahebpur Kamal, Begusarai and Bakhri. Polling in Begusarai will be held on April 29 in 4th Phase of 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
