Aurangabad (Maharashtra): Syed Imtiaz Jaleel, President of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Maharashtra, on Tuesday released the first list containing the named of 03 candidates who will contest the Maharashtra assembly elections to be held in the next month.
"The names of Daniel Ramesh Landge, Mufti Mohammad Ismail and Mohammed Feroz Khan Lala have been finalized for the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections", AIMIM Maharashtra President and Aurangabad MP, Syed Imtiaz Jaleel, said.
While Daniel Ramesh Landge will contest the Maharashtra state polls from Vadgaonsheri assembly seat in Pune, Mufti Ismail has been fielded from Malegaon Central assembly seat in Nashik district.
Feroz Khan Lala will contest the 2019 Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha Elections from Nanded North.
Mufti Mohd Ismail had won the 2009 Maharashtra elections as an Independent candidate. He later joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and became its president, but lost the 2014 Maharashtra state elections to Asif Shaikh Rasheed of Congress.
Mufti Ismail joined the AIMIM about 10 days ago. He had earlier resigned from NCP.
Daniel Ramesh Landge is husband of Ashwini Daniel Landge, who had won the 2017 Pune Municipal Corporation election as AIMIM candidate.
AIMIM declared the list of the party candidates for the 2019 Maharashtra elections amidst reports of rift in AIMIM-Vanchit Aghadi alliance.
About a week ago, Syed Imtiaz Jaleel had declared that the party will go to the Maharashtra polls solo. However, Prakash Ambedkar said AIMIM-Vanchit Aghadi alliance is intact, and he is in talks with Asaduddin Owaisi to finalise the seat sharing between the two parties.
The AIMIM, headed by Asaduddin Owaisi, is based in Hyderabad. It contested the Maharashtra state elections for the first time in 2014 and won 02 seats.
The state elections in Maharashtra is scheduled to be held in October 2019. State Election Commission is likely to announce the Election Date and Schedule in 8-10 days.
