Maharashtra Corona cases cross 1000 mark, Mumbai reports 116 cases in 24 hrs

With Coronavirus positive cases in the state increasing with alarming pace, Maharashtra continues to be worst hit in India

Mumbai: Maharashtra on Tuesday recorded 150 new Covid-19 cases, with the total jumping from 868 on Monday to 1,018 Tuesday evening, state officials said.

With Coronavirus positive cases in the state increasing with alarming pace, Maharashtra continues to be worst hit in India.

There seems to be no breather from novel coronavirus for the state capital Mumbai as it reported more than 100 new cases in the last 24 hours.

By Tuesday evening, there are 590 covid-19 cases in Mumbai. The city has also reported 40 deaths. As many as 59 patients have been treated and discharged from different hospitals, as on Tuesday April 7.

Besides Mumbai which reported 116 fresh cases, Pune reported 18 new cases, Nagpur, Aurangabaf and Ahmednagar 3 each, Buldhana and Thane 2, and 1 each from Sangli, Satara and Ratnagiri.

Till date, 32,521 people are in home quarantine and 3498 in institutional quarantine, while 70 who are fully cured have been discharged.

As the number of Covid-19 cases and casualties continue to rise, the Mumbai Police has appealed to all those who attended the Tablighi Jamaat Ijtema at Markaz Nizamuddin in Delhi, to voluntarily come forward to the health authorities.

The state health authorities continue to comb for the Jamaat attendees in all districts and civic bodies in the state where so far 8 such positive cases have been found. They are four from Pune, two from Ahmednagar and one each in Hingoli and Washim.

On Tuesday, 6 Covid-19 patients died in Mumbai, three succumbed in Pune and one each in Thane, Nagpur and Satara. They include 2 women and 10 men, who were also suffering from various other serious ailments. With this totoal COVID-19 deaths in Maharashtra jump to 64.

India in itself has reported more than 4400 corona positive cases and more than 110 deaths as on Tuesday.
