Maharashtra 10th Geography, 9th, 11th 2nd Sem exams cancelled

Maharashtra SSC Exam 2020: The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has cancelled Geography - the last paper of Maharashtra SSC (Class 10 Metric) board exam 2020, Education Minister said.

The minister also said due to the Coronavirus lockdown which has been extended till April 30, Class 9th and Class 11th Second Semester exams have also been cancelled.

"The lock down was expected to end on April 14 but it has now been extended. Hence we have taken two decisions. The second semester exams for Class IX and XI will not be held and students must be promoted to the next classes on the basis of the first term exam and internal exam results", the school education minister, Varsha Gaikwad said in a video message.

"Similarly, we have also decided to cancel the pending Geography and pending vocational subjects papers for SSC students", she said.

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) had on March 22 postponed the Geography paper of Maharashtra SSC (Class 10 Metric) board exam 2020 scheduled to be held on March 23.

The vocational subjects papers were scheduled to be held between March 24 and April 4. The decision to postpone, and now cancel, the Maharashtra SSC board exams, Class 11th and Class 9th Second Sem is taken in view of the Coronavirus outbreak.

However the marking scheme for the SSC students is yet to be decided. The Maharashtra board normally declares SSC board exam result in first week of June. The result is also likely to be delayed.
