Nagpur: Hitting out at Waris Pathan, National Spokesperson of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), over his '15 crore Muslims can be heavy on 100 crore' remark, Maharashtra BJP legislator Girish Vyas reminder the former of the 2002 massacre of Muslims in Gujarat.

"Remember Gujarat, the incidents happened in Kalupur. If they take that into account...I feel the Muslims there today do not dare to rise again," Vyas said while speaking to TV9 news channel on Friday.

Vyas was apparently referring to the 2002 post-Godhra riots in Gujarat, in which over 2,500 people, mostly Muslims were killed.

Vyas, who is from Nagpur, also dared Pathan to come to his city.

"We will make proper arrangement for you. Do you think we are wearing bangles? We are ready to deal with you. But we feel that there should not be any disharmony in the society," he said.

In a highly objectionable speech delivered in the charged atmosphere, Waris Pathan, the former MLA from Byculla Mumbai, purportedly threatened Hindus of the country in a speech last week.

"They tell us that we have kept our women in the forefront. I want to tell these people, so far only the lionesses have come out and you are already sweating. Just imagine, what would happen if all of us come together", Pathan said addressing a public meeting in Gulbarga.

"We are just 15 crore but can be a bigger force than the 100 crore majority population," he said without naming anyone.

Besides the BJP and Shiv Sena, a good number of people from Pathan's own constituency have also slammed the former MLA for his outrageous comments. Complaints against Waris Pathan have also been lodged in Mumbai.

Asaduddin Owaisi, who is very quick to respond to all kinds of happenings in the country, has so far not spoken a word on Pathan's objectionable comments, but reports said the AIMIM has issued him a notice and has asked him to explain.

Waris Pathan had earlier issued a clarification on Twitter saying "he is a proud Indian and his comments were reported out of context".
