MHRD Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank Friday announced the postponement of the three important entrance exams. Pokhriyal also announced the new date to conduct NEET 2020, JEE Main 2020 and JEE Advanced 2020.

The announcement was followed by widespread demands to postpone the three exams in the wake of intensifying Coronavirus pandemic in India and other parts of the world.

Campaigns and Petitions

Some groups of parents and students had approached the Supreme Court of India and also high courts with petitions seeking postponement of these tests. On the other hand another group had written to the National Testing Agency (NTA) - the authority responsible to conduct the two exams, to hold them in July.

Different campaigns for and against holding NEET 2020 and JEE Main 2020 in July were also launched online and on social media.
