GoAir Pilot's Suspension revoked

Mumbai: Three days after terminating Asif Khan, a trainee pilot, for allegedly insulting Hindu gods and hence failing to comply with the company’s rules on social media conduct, GoAir Sunday changed its decision to suspend him.

GoAir had terminated Asif Khan after a section of social media users had shared on Twitter screenshots of some tweets insulting the Hindu Gods. The derogatory tweet was posted using "Twitter handler @MohdAsif35534489 by some Asif Khan, who claimed to be employed with GoAir".

Faced with unprecedented protests and hashtag #BoyCottGoAir trending on Twitter, GoAir on June 4 sacked its trainee pilot Asif Khan without any verification and investigation into the alleged social media posts.

Asif Khan immediately pointed out to GoAir that the objectionable tweets were not posted by him. He also lodged a complaint the Saki Naka police claiming that someone had impersonated him to post objectionable comments on Twitter.

To prove his point Asif Khan, also said that the Twitter handler using which the messages derogatory to Hindu God were posted has been suspended while his actual Twitter account is still available.

According to the latest report in the case, the Cyber Crime Cell of Mumbai Police has started a probe.

Following the clarification and police complaint filed by Asif Khan, GoAir revoked his termination till the investigation into the matter is completed.

"The trainee pilot will remain suspended till cyber crime cell completes its investigation," GoAir spokesperson said.

It is pertinent to note that GoAir Trainee Pilot Asif Khan was trolled for the objectionable tweets amidst sacking of a number of Indian expats in UAE, Canada, New Zealand and in some other countries for posting Islamophobic, anti-Muslim and anti-Islam comments on social media.
