QS World University Rankings 2021: None of Indian universities among Top 100

Out of the 20 "Institution of Eminence" (IOE) selected by the Indian government, only 13 found a place in the QS World University Rankings 2021

Mumbai: None of the Indian universities figured in World's Top 100 varsities if the 2021 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings released Wednesday is to be believed.

However, like the previous year, 03 Indian universities were able to find their place in the world's top 200 universities.

In a serious blow to India's Education system, only 21 universities could find a mention in the 2021 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings. This is 03 down as compared to 2020 when a total of 24 universities of the country were among world's top 1000.

The three Indian universities in the list of world's top 200 universities are Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.

IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi and IISc have retained their place among world's top 200 universities in 2021 but with a lesser rank as compared to 2020.

Jamia, AMU improve India rank

Jamia Millia Islamia has ranked among 751-800 best varsities in the world. Jamia Millia Islamia has improved its India ranking to 21 from last year's 28. Jamia's BRICS ranking is 125 and its rank among Asian universities is 192. The QS World University Rankings 2021 also says Research Output of Jamia Millia Islamia is "Very High".

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has ranked among 801-1000 best varsities in the world. Like Jamia, AMU has also improved its India ranking to 31 from last year's 33.

AMU BRICS ranking is 138 and QS WUR Subject Ranking is 301-350. The QS World University Rankings says Research Output of the AMU is "High".

13 of 20 IOEs in the list

Out of the 20 "Institution of Eminence" (IOE) selected by the Indian government, only 13 found a place in the QS World University Rankings 2021.

Among them is O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU). JGU is the only "Institution of Eminence" (IOE) that has climbed up significantly in the QS World University Rankings 2021 compared to the rankings last year.

World's Top 10 universities

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has ranked 1st, Stanford University has ranked 2nd and Harvard University has ranked 3rd. All the three top universities are from the United states.

California Institute of Technology United States has ranked 4, University of Oxford has ranked 5, ETH Zurich Siwss Federal Institute of Technology Switzerland has ranked 6 and University of Cambridge has ranked 7.

The other three universities among World' Top 10 best are Imperial College London (8th rank), University of Chicago (9th rank) and UCL United Kingdom (10th rank).

In other parts of the world, King Abdul Aziz University (KAU) Jeddah has ranked 143 in 2021 a jump from 186 in the world ranking in 2021.

On the other hand, King Saud University (KSU) Riyadh which has ranked 281 in 2021, is ranked 287 in QS World University Rankings 2021.
