Gandhinagar: A total of 26 more deaths took Gujarat's total coronavirus deaths past the 1,700-mark to 1,711 on Tuesday, even as 549 new cases took the state's total cases to 28,429. Ahmedabad, its main contributor, has reported 19,386 cases so far.
Gujarat now has 6,197 active cases, of which the condition of 6,135 patients is stable, whereas 62 critical patients are still on ventilators.
On Tuesday, the health authorities carried out 4,983 RT-PCR tests. Of the new cases, 235 were detected in Ahmedabad (42.80%), followed by Surat at 175 (Sunday's total 176), Vadodara 42, Jamnagar 12, Bharuch 11, Gandhinagar 10, Bhavnagar 8, Narmada 6, Mahesana 5, Mahisagar, Panchmahals, Kutch, Valsad and Navsari 4 each, Gir-Somnath, Surendranagar and from other states 3 each, Sabarkantha, Anand, Patan, Chotta Udepur, Botad and Rajkot 2 each, and Aravalli, Kheda, Dahod and Amreli one case each.
Of Tuesday's 26 deaths, 15 were reported in Ahmedabad, 6 in Surat, and one patient each in Dwarka, Amreli and Patan.
Despite Ahmedabad's corona cases share down to 68.19% from around 80%, the city's share in total death toll has now come down to 79.83% from around 81%. As many as 673 of the total 1,711 casualties were reported in June.
Of the Gujarat's total deaths, 1,366 were reported in Ahmedabad, followed by 134 in Surat, 49 in Vadodara, 25 in Gandhinagar, 15 each in Aravalli and Panchmahals, 13 each in Bhavnagar and Anand, 12 in Patan, 10 in Mahesana, and 8 in Banaskantha. Gujarat has one of the highest mortality rate for corona in the country at 6.01%.
On Tuesday, 604 patients were discharged, taking the total to 20,521 cured patients.
Ahmedabad continues to lead the state with maximum 19,386 positive cases, followed by Surat 3,540, Vadodara 1,945, Gandhinagar 580, Mahesana 220, Bhavnagar 208, Rajkot 188, Aravalli 177, Banaskantha 167, Bharuch 162, Anand 158, Sabarkantha 155, Patan 149, Panchmahals and Jamnagar 144 each, Mahisagar 130, Kheda 122, Kutch 114, Surendranagar 95, Botad 76, Valsad 75, Junagadh 66, Narmada 59, Gir-Somnath 58, Dahod, Navsari and patients from other states 53 each.
Of the 3,34,326 RT-PCR tests in the state, 3,05,897 tested corona negative.
As many as 2,28,177 people are quarantined in the state, including 2,24,113 in home quarantine and 4,064 in government facilities.
