Aligarh: Seventeen students of the Department of Geology Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have qualified the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, has declared the GATE 2020 examination.
GATE 2020 was conducted by Indian Instititue of Technology (IIT) Delhi and the result was declared on March 13.
As per the schedule, GATE 2020 result was to be declared on March 16. It was however declared 03 days in advance.
The AMU students who cracked the GATE 2020 are are Irfan Ali,Ramish Mehdi, Faraz, Mohammad Salman, Wamiq Khan, Mohammad Aatif Raza, MohdZaid, Mohd Asim Khan, Gulam Asif, Gufran Chaudhary, Sultan Azeem, SaddamHussain, Tahreer Ayaz, Tashkin Khan, Shariq Ansari, Adil Hussain and Saif AhmadKhan.
"These students have succeeded because of the persistent efforts and hard work under the guidance of the faculty members", said Prof A H M Ahmad, Chairman, Department of Geology.
GATE 2020 was conducted for 25 subjects (also referred to as “papers”) and was held on 1st, 2nd, 8th & 9th of February 2020. The GATE examination centres were spread in different cities across India, as well as, in six cities outside India. The examination was purely a Computer Based Test (CBT).
Out of 8,59,048 registered candidates through out India, a total 6,84,903 (79.73 per cent) candidates appeared in eight sessions at 566 centres across 199 cities for GATE 2020. GATE 2020 was also held for the first time in Srinagar, Kashmir as exam centre.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is basically an examination on the comprehensive understanding of the candidates in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture and post-graduate level subjects in Science.
