New Delhi: The last batch of Indians who were in Makkah to perform Umrah before the travel ban was imposed By Saudi Arabia in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak on Wednesday departed from Jeddah to Mumbai.

"The last batch of 185 Indian Umrah pilgrims depart from #Jeddah to #Mumbai through special Indigo aircraft today", reported DD News, the official news channel.

Saudi Arabia had banned on Umrah travel on February 26, 2020 soon after Coronavirus outbreak in China's Wuhan. The decision to impose temporary ban on Umrah was followed by suspension of International flights to Saudi Arabia.

As many as 3,035 Indians were in the Kingdom when these decisions were taken. All of them were departed to the country in batches.

Along with travel ban, the Saudi authorities have also suspended, temporarily, daily prayers offered in congregation. Besides five time daily prayers, the Saudis have also suspended Friday prayers till further order.

From February 27 onwards the prayers in the Grand Mosque Makkah are also restricted. While there is no ban on tawaf, the pilgrims are allowed access only to part of the Mataf area and they are not allowed to near the Kaaba.

More than 200,000 people in over 143 countries have been infected by Coronavirus. As many as 8,400 people have died which China being the worst affected country followed by Italy, Iran and Spain.

According to the latest Coronaviurs updates, all of the 50 states of USA are into the grip of Covid-19 - the name given by WHO to identify the virus.
