Mumbai: Chinese smartphone major BBK Electronics Corporation is set to launch Oppo’s first AndesGPT powered AI phone Find X7 next month.
AndesGPT – Oppo’s response to ChatGPT, Bard and other AI chatbots, is set to rival Samsung’s in-house developed generative AI (genAI) model “Samsung Gauss” coming in Samsung Galaxy S24 series slated to be launched on January 18, 2024.
Underlying with three major technical characteristics - dialogue enhancement, personalization and cloud-device collaboration, the core capabilities of Oppo's self-trained large language model AndesGPT focus on knowledge, memory, tools, and creation.
AndesGPT has also brought new capabilities to Oppo’s Pantanal cross-platform smart system. With the support of generative AI technology, Pantanal provides more accurate understanding of user intention and context, more intelligent combinations of ubiquitous services, and more intuitive user interaction.
“The synergy of Pantanal and AndesGPT will bring more creative and imaginative experience to OPPO global users”, the smartphone major said.
AndesGPT is made up of 7 billion parameters and comes in three different tiers just like Google’s recently unveiled Gemini AI model.
Three AndesGPT AI models are Tiny - comprising 7 billion parameters, Turbo - consisting of 70 billion parameters, and Titan having 180 billion parameters with progressively increasing capabilities, respectively.
Like other AI chatbots, AndesGPT is also capable of taking multiple input methods including texts, voice, images, documents, and more.
Oppo claims that AndesGPT can generate abstracts with up to 14,000 words and has faster response times than rivals. It also claims that Andes can respond as quickly as 2.9 seconds, 2.5 times faster than industry standards.
Find X7 will not have all AndesGPT features and is most likely to be limited to generating custom wallpapers through AI and will be able to summarize notes, generate emails, and more.
If the leaks are to be believed, Oppo Find X7 series will comprise of Oppo Find X7 Pro, Find X7 Ultra and Find X7 Ultra variant with 'Satellite Communication'.
All Oppo Find X7 models are expected to offer improved mobile gaming experiences for users by supporting high frame rates of up to 120 fps (frames per second), according to GizomoChina.
Oppo Find X7 could be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset, while the Ultra models may get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The phones are expected to boot Android 14-based ColorOS 14 out-of-the-box and support LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 onboard storage. All models in the lineup are said to pack 5,000mAh batteries each with 100W wired fast charging support, according to Gadgets 360.
Oppo Find X7 with AndesGPT will be launched in China in the next month. It however is unclear if the phone with the same features will also be made available for buyers in international phone markets.
Since Oppo and OnePlus both are owned by BBK Electronics Corporation, a Chinese multinational conglomerate. It is most likely that OnePlus too will launch its AI powered smartphone along with Oppo Find X7 series as the two brands did in October when Oppo launched its foldable phone Find N3 and OnePlus unpacked OnePlus Open.
