Mumbai: Samsung is launching its first Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered smartphone Galaxy S24 at ‘Samsung Galaxy Unpacked’ event on January 18, 2024, the phone maker has officially confirmed.
The event will see the launch of Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S24 Ultra – all powered by the latest AI features and are said to be the Korean phone maker’s response to OpenAI-Microsoft ChatGPT, Google Bard and other AI chatbots.
Ahead of the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event on January 18, 2024, the specification and other details of the three phones have been leaked online.
According to Evan Blass who leaked actual press materials for the Galaxy S24 series, S24 will sport a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED display, offering 1080p resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits.
The S24+ will increase the screen size to 6.7-inches with 2K resolution, while the S24 Ultra boasts the tallest display as always at 6.8-inches.
Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ models will be enclosed in Armor Aluminium 2.0, whereas S24 Ultra variant will have a new Titanium frame, similar to the new iPhone 15 Pro phones.
The three smartphones will be available in four colors that include Onyx Black, Cobalt Violet, Marble Gray, and Amber Yellow.
All the three Galaxy S24 models will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. But the phones launched in certain regions, including Korea, Europe, and India, will be powered by the Exynos 2400 chipset.
The S24 entry model will come with 8 GB RAM with options of 128 GB or 256 GB storage. In contrast, the S24+ and S24 Ultra models will offer 12 GB RAM and storage options of 256 GB or 512 GB.
If we compare the storage in the three phones, S24 will have 4,000 mAh battery, S24+ will feature 4,900 mAh battery whereas the S24 Ultra to have a robust 5,000 mAh battery.
As far as the camera set-up is concerned, S24 and S24+ will be equipped with 50MP main camera and a 3x telephoto lens. The primary camera oin these models will support up to 8K video recording.
On the other hand S24 Ultra is likely to feature a 200MP main camera complemented by 3x and 10x telephoto lenses.
The Galaxy S24 Series will have eight AI features to what Samsung said bring users closer to a world where some of the most common barriers to social connection dissolve, and communication is easier and more productive than ever.
The features include AI Live Translate Call for instant audio and text translation and smart email assistant.
“Audio and text translation will appear in real-time as you speak, making calling someone who speaks another language about as simple as turning on closed captions when you stream a show”, Samsung said.
“The smart email assistant will draft email messages based on the user's communication style. It can also create summary of lengthy documents highlighting important points in the document”, the electronic giant said.
Other AI features that the phones feature are Image generation and creation, best shots, video object eraser, anyplace zoom, and personal travel assistant.
“The personal travel assistant will use AI to calculate travel time, provide weather and traffic updates and suggest relevant information for seamless journey”, Samsung said.
