Why Sarfaraz Khan's Half Century on Test Debut is Special

Rajkot (Gujarat): Sarfaraz Khan, the Middle Order Batsman, Thursday Feb 15, 2024, scored a brilliant half century playing for India against England in the third test on debut.

Mumbai-born Sarfaraz Khan has been one of the most consistent performers in domestic cricket over the past few years. He was included in the Indian Squad against England for the third test.

Playing against the visitors on the first day, Zarfaraz Khan scored half-century off 48 balls. This is the fastest half-century by an Indian cricketer in its post-independence history on test debut.

With his half century off 48 balls, Sarfaraz Khan equals Hardik Pandya's 50 off the same number of balls on debut.

Sarfaraz Khan was run-out after scoring a total of 62 runs off 66 balls with a strike rate of 93.33. Sarfaraz Khan's dismissal was the result of a mix-up between him and Ravindra Jadeja.

'Test Cap'

Besides the fastest half-century on test debut and run out mix-up, a video showing Sarfaraz Khan hugging his father and wife on the ground. Sarfaraz Khan's father Naushad Khan is a former cricketer.

In the viral video, Sarafar Khan hugs his father, also his coach, gives him his test cap with an emotional gesture which his father takes and kisses.

Sarfaraz then turns to his wife, hands over the Test Cap in the similar manner and then wipes her tears.
