Bandar Seri Begawan (Brunei): Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei is in news for marrying a commoner, more specifically a non-royal, Anisha Rosnah Isa-Kalebic.
The 32-year-old Prince tied knot with his 29-year-old fiancée on Thursday January 11, 2024.
The Nikah and the solemnization ceremony was held at Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the Brunei capital Bandar Seri Begawan. Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque is famous for its gold dome.
Though the marriage was solemnized on Thursday January 11, the Royal wedding ceremony will last for 10-days starting from January 07, 2024.
Prince Mateen is 4th son and 10th child of Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, one of the world’s richest royals and the ruler of the oil-rich tiny state for more than five decades.
He is sixth in line to the throne and is unlikely to ever ascend to the highest position.
Prince Mateen is a social media star and has more than 2.5 million followers on Instagram where he is hailed as “hot” and “sexy”.
A trained helicopter pilot and major in the Royal Brunei Air Force, Prince Mateen is known for winning sports medals in polo and hanging out with tigers.
A Prince in real life, but on Instagram Prince Abdul Mateen is more Hollywood than royalty, as described by news agency AFP, as he flies in fighter jets, drives speed boats and poses bare-chested after workouts, playing polo, boxing in a ring, dabbling in photography, and in military uniform.

In one video posted on Instagram, Prince Mateen is seen flying in an F/A 18 Super Hornet warplane.
Prince Mateen's matinee idol looks, rippling six-pack and sense of adventure -- captured in photos and videos that are carefully curated on Instagram -- have turned him into a public relations asset for the royal family, according to AFP.
Prince Mateen’s wife Anisha Rosnah Isa-Kalebic is a non-royal and claimingly a commoner, but in reality not so commoner.
She is the granddaughter of one of the Sultan’s special advisors, Pehin Dato Isa, the founding chairman of the Royal Brunei Airlines.
According to local media, Anisha runs a fashion brand called Silk Collective and co-owns a tourism company called Authentirary with a friend.
