Maharashtra govt deploys Adityanath's Bulldozer Model in riot hit Mira Road

Mumbai: The Shinde-Fadnavis-Ajit government in Maharashtra deployed the Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath's Bulldozer Model in the riot affected Mira Road area of Mumbai Suburbs in Thane district of the state.

According to Maharashtra Police as many as 15 "illegal" and "encroached" properties in the Muslim dominated areas of Mira Road are being bulldozed even as questions are being raised over the authority and legality of such an action.

The bulldozer action followed soon after Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who belonged to the right-wing Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), while talking to reporters said “strict action will be taken against the encroachers and those involved in illegal activities”.

He also said so far the Police has detained 13 people.

"The police have been instructed to take strict action against the accused. So far, 13 accused have been detained and the police is trying to identify the other accused based on the CCTV footage. Anyone trying to disrupt law and order will be dealt with strictly," he told reporters.

"The complete details of the incident in the Naya Nagar area of Mira-Bhyander were taken last night only. I was in constant touch with the Mira-Bhyander Police Commissioner till 3.30 am Monday”, he added.

Clashes erupted in Mira Road Sunday night when hundreds of Hindus on cars and motorbike holding saffron flags and raising provocative slogans passed through the Muslim dominated Naya Nagar area of the suburban city.

Videos and photos shared on social media platforms showed Muslims attacked and ransacked vehicles that were part of the procession taken out a day before Ram temple inauguration in Ayodhya.

On Monday, Hindus took out a bigger procession and passed through the same area. Some videos shared on social media showed a youth wearing saffron scarf with gun in his one hand and sword in the other.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayant Bajbale while talking to reporters admitted the clashes broke out Sunday night at around 11:00 pm when “some people of the Hindu community were raising slogans in three-four vehicles..."

"Shortly after, an argument broke out between the Hindu community and some people belonging to the Muslim community. Seeing the deteriorating situation, the police vehicle immediately reached the spot and took some people into custody," he was quoted by news agency PTI.

Bajbale further said additional police force has been deployed in the area. “A flag march has also been conducted and the situation in the affected area is currently under control”, he said.
