London: Renowned African-American Activist and Writer Shaun King embraced Islam along with his wife Rai Sunday March 11, 2024, a day before Ramadan, to show solidarity with the Palestinians facing genocide at the hands of the Israeli Occupied Forces in Gaza.
Shaun King has always been critical of the Zionist aggression against the Palestinians. His protest against Zionists amplified by manifold ever since Oct 7, 2023 when the Israeli forces launched brutal military offensive in Gaza killing more than 31,000 Palestinians – a huge majority of them women and children, as on today.

Hassan Shibly confirmed Shaun King's converted to Islam on social media platform X, originally launched as Twitter.
“What incredible news it is to witness the answer of a prayer and learn that our brother Shaun King and his wife just embraced Islam with Omar Suleiman”, Hassan Shibly wrote on X.
“Had the honor of meeting Br. Shaun at various community and social justice events over the years. His sincerity and dedication both to faith and the plight of the oppressed always shone through”, he added.
“I always prayed he would find guidance with Islam as I had no doubt he would be so enriched by it and the Muslim community would likewise advance with him. If anyone I met could be our generations next Malcom it is him”, he wrote.

In a video posted on social media platform Facebook, King, wearing Palestinian keffiyeh, is seen reciting the Shahadah in Arabic and English in front of Dr Omar and other followers.
King then passes the microphone to his wife Rai, wearing a brown hijab, who also takes the oath.
King attributed his decision to convert to Islam to the humanitarian situation in Gaza and also to Malcom X's heritage and to his long-time association with Muslims.
"I don't know that I would be here today without the past six months of suffering and pain and trauma that we've seen in Gaza," King said in the video uploaded on the Valley Ranch Islamic Center's YouTube channel.
"It (the situation in Gaza) has touched me in the most profound ways to see people right now in the most dangerous, traumatic place on the planet still be able to sometimes look at nothing but rubble and the remains of their family and still see meaning and purpose in life," King added.
"More than anything, it's been friendships and the deep devotion and faith of the Palestinian people that have moved my heart”, he said.
Shaun King was a Pastor of Courageous Church in Atlanta from 2008 to 2011, the Daily Mail reported citing BuzzFeed. King rose to fame in mid 2010s during the Black Lives Matter movement.
After conversion to Islam, King and his wife Rai are also observing Ramadan fast.
