Makkah/Madinah: The General Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques has released the schedule of Taraweeh, Special Night Prayers, to be offered during the Holy Month of Ramadan 2024 at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah.
Along with the Taraweeh Schedule 2024 at the Two Holy Mosques, the General Presidency has also published the names of the Imams who will lead the Special Night Prayers offered in the month of Ramadan.
The Holy Month of Fasting this year is set to start either on March 11 or 12, 2024. The exact date will be confirmed on Sunday 29th of Shaban 1445 AH, corresponding to March 10, 2024, when Muslims in Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries will look for the Ramadan Moon.
According to the revised schedule released by the Makkah Haram Administration, Taraweeh prayers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah will be led by permanent and two guest Imams. The permanent Imams are:
Sheikh Bandar Baleelah - famous for his excellent recitation of Holy Qur’an, Sheikh Abdullah Juhany - celebrated for his wonderful delivery, Sheikh (Dr) Maher Al Muaiqly, hailed for his deep spiritual knowledge, Sheikh Yasir Ad Dawsary, and Sheikh (Dr) Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, President of the General Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques who is respected throughout the world.
The name of Sheikh Yasir Ad Dawsary's name was not mentioned in the schedule released by the Haram admin. His name was however added after he was reinstated as a permanent Imam Wednesday.
The Guest Imams who will lead the Taraweeh Prayers are Sheikh Badr Al Turki and Sheikh Waleed Al Shamsan.
The Taraweeh prayers at Makkah Haram will consist of 10 Rakahs, followed by 3 Rakahs of Witr. Each imam will lead prayers on certain nights, providing a different kind of spiritual experience for worshippers.
The official schedule also gives details of both Taraweeh and Tahajjud prayers, to be offered in Masjid al Haram Makkah during the month of Ramadan.
Worshippers should note that the schedule only shows the timing of Tahajjud prayers during the last ten days of Ramadan.
According to the schedule released by the Haram Administration, Taraweeh prayers at the Masjid an-Nabawi in The City of Prophet (peace be upon him) Madinah will be led by six Imams. They are:
Sheikh (Dr) Abdullah Al-Baijan, Sheikh (Dr) Abdul Mohsen Al-Qasim, Sheikh Ahmad Bin Talib Bin Humaid, Sheikh (Dr) Salah Al-Budair, Sheikh (Dr) Abdullah Al-Juhani and Sheikh (Dr) Maher Al-Muaiqly.
Sheikh (Dr) Abdullah Al-Juhany and Sheikh (Dr) Maher Al-Muaiqly have the distinction of leading Taraweeh Prayers at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah both.
The Taraweeh prayers in Masjid an-Nabawi will also consist of 10 Rakahs, followed by 3 Rakahs of Witr. Each imam will lead prayers on certain nights, providing a different kind of spiritual experience for worshippers.
While Muslims who will travel to Makkah for Umrah during the month of Ramadan will offer Taraweeh prayers as per the above schedule, their counterparts around the world can watch the live streaming that will be broadcasted live from the two cities.
