Delhi University: The Delhi University (DU) has issued the notification and published the complete schedule of the high stake Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) Elections 2026.
As per the DUSU Elections 2026 schedule released Monday, the polling will be held on September 18, 2026. The counting of votes will be done on September 19, 2026 when the result will also be announced.
The Delhi University Students Union election will be held to elect the office bearers and members of the central council including President, Vice President, Secretary and Joint Secretary.
The University of Delhi has made arrangements for a paperless campaign for the 2026 DUSU elections. In the Code of Conduct released for the candidates, the DU said the candidates can submit an electoral speech in a video clipping, not exceeding ten minutes, to the office of the Chief Election Officer by September 12, 2026, till 2 pm.
The video will be uploaded on the DU website after the approval of the Chief Election Officer. Candidates may use social media available free of cost instead of paper for canvassing, the official rule book asserted.
As per the official guidelines, the use of loudspeaker, vehicle, and animals for the purpose of canvassing is prohibited. The use of a mascot or costume used to entertain or represent something is strictly prohibited.
The university stated that no candidate will be allowed to make use of printed posters, pamphlets, or any other printed material for the purpose of canvassing. Candidates may only utilise handmade posters.
The maximum permitted expenditure per candidate is Rs 5000, the university announced. The university has also removed the mandatory ₹1 lakh security bond introduced last year for the students' union election.
Polling for the Delhi University Students’ Union Election in 2025 was also held on September 18 with counting of votes done on the next day.
As per the final result of the DUSU 2025 elections, all the top three posts were won by the BJP backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
On the other hand, the Congress backed NSUI could win just one post that is of Vice President in the 2025 students’ union elections.
The DUSU 2026 elections, however, could be a litmus test for the BJP and its affiliate ABVP as the elections are being held amidst massive unrest and protests of students in different parts of India amid the Narendra Modi government in Delhi.
