Makkah Quran Competition 2026 Male/Female Winners Announced - Full List

Saudi National, Abdulrahman bin Mukhtar bin Ahmed Muhammad, and Jumana Shraitiyah (Jumanah Sharaityah) of Algeria have respectively won the Top Prize at the 46th Edition of the King Abdulaziz International Holy Quran Competition or 2026 Makkah Quran Competition for Memorization, Recital and Explanation held at the Grand Mosque for males and females

Makkah Quran Contest 2026: Saudi National, Abdulrahman bin Mukhtar bin Ahmed Muhammad, and Jumana Shraitiyah (Jumanah Sharaityah) of Algeria have respectively won the Top Prize at the 46th Edition of the King Abdulaziz International Holy Quran Competition or 2026 Makkah Quran Competition for Memorization, Recital and Explanation held at the Grand Mosque for males and females.

At a glittering ceremony held after Isha prayers at Makkah Grand Mosque Wednesday August 19, 2026, the Saudi and Algerian nationals both each were awarded the top cash prize of 500,000 Saudi Riyals or SAR 0.5 million prize.

While Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, graced the prize distribution ceremony and felicitated the male winners, wife of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Princess Fahda bint Falah Al Hithlain honored the female and woman winners of the Quran Contest.

The prize distribution ceremony for male contestants was held in the courtyard of Masjid al Haram whereas the ceremony to felicitate the female winners was held in Hilton Hotel which shares its wall with the Haram boundaries.

Besides, the prize distribution ceremony was also attended by all Imams of Masjid al Haram Makkah along with Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz.

46th King Abdulaziz International Holy Quran Competition - List of Winners

The Makkah Quran contest 2026 was held in five categories for male and female contestants. The Quran competition was held for female contestants for the first time.

The three top three winners of the first and most coveted category for males are as follows:

1. Abdulrahman bin Mukhtar bin Ahmed Muhammad (Saudi Arabia) – 500,000 SAR
2. Abdul Kareem Rajab Agha (Syria) – 450,000 SAR
3. Qasiyov Rasul Talant Bikovich (Kyrgyzstan) – 400,000 SAR

The three top three winners of the first and most coveted category for females are as follows:

1. Jumana Shraitiyah / Jumanah Sharaityah (Algeria) – 500,000 SAR
2. Raghad bint Hussein bin Ali Al Farhan (Saudi Arabia) – 450,000 SAR
3. Hiba bint Majid bin Rushdi Al-Safadi (Saudi Arabia) – 400,000 SAR

Five Categories of the Quran Contest

The Makkah Quran Competition (for Males and Females) was divided into five categories:

1. Memorization of the entire Holy Qur’an, with accurate recitation and intonation following the seven rules of recitation
2. Memorization of the Qur’an along with interpretation of its terms
3. Memorization of 15 juz (parts) of the Qur’an with proper recitation and intonation
4. Memorization of five juz with correct recitation and intonation
5. A category for shorter lengths of memorization with corresponding recitation and intonation requirements

The total value of the competition’s prizes is 10,260,000 Saudi Riyals (SAR), with 50 winners (5 per branch in each of the men’s and women’s sections), in addition to SR1 million that will be apportioned out to all participants.

Category 2 (Full memorization with good performance, tajweed, and full interpretation of Quranic vocabulary):

1. Omar bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Subaih (Saudi Arabia) – 300,000 SAR
2. Fatal Zakaria (Algeria) – 275,000 SAR
3. Badr Saed Hamed Yousef Mishal (Bahrain) – 250,000 SAR
4. Ahmed bin Hamed bin Rashid Al-Sahli (Saudi Arabia) – 235,000 SAR
5. Muhammad Marava Abdullah (Nigeria) – 220,000 SAR

Category 3 (Full memorization with good performance and tajweed):

1. Naji Atiya Naji bin Suleiman (Libya) – 200,000 SAR
2. Muhammad Al-Hadi Al-Gharbi (Tunisia) – 190,000 SAR
3. Sheikh Muhammad Mahmoud Al-Hassan (Bangladesh) – 180,000 SAR
4. Obaid Hussein (United Kingdom) – 170,000 SAR
5. Muhammad Hasbi Al-Siddiq (Indonesia) – 160,000 SAR
   

Category (15 consecutive juz’ with good performance and tajweed):

1. Muhammad Zakaria (Bangladesh) – 150,000 SAR
2. Hammam Mustafa Al-Obaid Zuraiqan (Libya) – 140,000 SAR
3. Mirbekov Musa (Kyrgyzstan) – 130,000 SAR
4. Abdul Hadi Abdul Halim Sheikh Diya (Syria) – 120,000 SAR
5. Shine Htet (Myanmar) – 110,000 SAR

Category 5 (5 consecutive juz’ with good performance and tajweed):

1. Thuriya Naung (Myanmar) – 65,000 SAR
2. Shaker Sheikh Faasub (Thailand) – 60,000 SAR
3. Muhammad Imdad Ilyas Muhammad (Sri Lanka) – 55,000 SAR

Category 5 (5 consecutive juz’):

1. Vanomizantsua Farida Razanajaka (Madagascar) – 65,000 SAR
2. Maria Mamada (Barbados) – 60,000 SAR
3. Kaltouma Kabaro (Central African Republic) – 55,000 SAR
4. Hiba bint Zofar Hansa (Mauritius) – 50,000 SAR
5. Laila Baturic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) – 45,000 SAR

The Makkah Quran Competition is organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance. The contest was opened on August 07, 2026 with Perliminary Rounds. A total of 334 competitors (men and women) from 133 countries participated in the contest.

Last year, the Makkah Quran Contest had ended with the final round held at the Grand Mosque in Makkah on August 20, 2025. Chaad National, Mohammad Adam Mohamed had won the top prize at the 45th Edition of the King Abdulaziz International Holy Quran Competition or Makkah Quran Contest held in 2025.
