AMU VC cancels MA
admission list, orders fresh list

Aligarh:
At high level review meeting taken by the AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof.
P. K. Abdul Azis has cancelled the list of admitted students for
M.A. History and decided that a fresh list of candidates should be
declared by 13th of August and admission be completed on August 20,
2009.
According to Dr.
Rahat Abrar, AMU's Public Relations Officer, the Vice Chancellor had
received a complaint that the admission to class M.A. did not take
place as per the University rules. The Department of History
insisted on marks-sheet before admission test which is a violation
of the rules.
On first receiving
the complaints from some candidates, the Dean, Faculty of Social
Science constituted a committee of two senior professors, Prof.
(Mrs.) Hamida Ahmad and Prof. Noor Mohammad to enquire into and the
committee found that the list prepared by the Department of History
has excluded those candidates who have not submitted their
marks-sheets. In fact marks-sheet is not required at the time of
admission form for departmental test, according to prescribed
University rules, Dr. Abrar said.
The meeting taken
by the Vice Chancellor found that some error and violation of
procedure was apparent in this case. The Vice Chancellor ordered
that the Department of History may prepare a fresh rank list as per
the guidelines to admission that the University has the right to
cancel such admissions at any stage at which the error/omission is
detected.
The AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdul Azis also
ordered that the University may issue a ‘Show Cause Memo’ to the
Chairman and other staff involved in preparation of the list for not
following the guidelines of admissions, Dr. Abrar added.
