Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet today approved the proposal to handover the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) University campus at Rangapur in Nalgonda District to the Government of India.
The Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister K Rosaiah met here today and decided to handover the buildings which were under construction and also the loan amount of Rs 30 crores to the Centre as the construction works were stopped due to lack of funds.
Meanwhile the Centre had agreed to take up the University campus and complete the buildings and convert the campus as Centre of Excellence and develop it in the next 20 to 30 years with the central funds.
The State government had proposed to take up the University campus in an extent of 161 acres of land with an estimated cost of Rs 100 crores but could not complete due to lack of funds. However, on the request of the State government the Central government had agreed to take up the University campus.
The Cabinet approved the proposal to allot 22 cents of land for the construction of Employees Provident Fund Organisation sub regional office at Fatehnagar village in Ranga Reddy District.
The Cabinet also given its approval to allot 41.99 acres of government land for the Rajiv Swagruha houses in Thottembedu mandal of Chittoor district.
The Cabinet approved the proposal to allot 9.20 acres government land at free of cost for the construction of Kendriya Vidyalaya at Kadipikonda village in Hanumankonda mandal of Warangal district.
