Maputo (Mozambique): An Indian university has tied up with a university in Mozambique
to help provide "global career opportunities for students".
The O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) Tuesday signed here a
Memorandum of Understanding with the University of St. Thomas of
Mozambique (USTM), a communique said.
USTM Rector Joseph Wamala said: "The MoU...marks an important
beginning in institutional collaborations between Africa and India
reflecting the impact of globalization and the need for promoting
global career opportunities for students in Mozambique."
As many as 15 female students from different provinces have been
selected for full scholarship from the government of Mozambique to
study in various degree programmes at JGU in Sonipat, Haryana
state.
JGU Vice Chancellor Raj Kumar said that his university's expanding
relationship with Mozambique was a "shining example of South-South
cooperation, wherein an Indian university was assisting in
capacity building of a fellow developing country in the spirit of
international understanding, equality and shared learning".
There are approximately 20,000 persons Indian origin people in
this southern African nation, out of which around 1,000 are Indian
