The teacher was raped and tortured for months, alleges brother
Malegaon: Pointing to yet another case of rape and sexual assault by promising marriage and a job, Malegaon police on Sunday arrested a woman administrator of school for physically disabled children while the hunt was on for three other teachers for the death of a lady teacher who allegedly committed suicide last week due to stress and trauma.
The 28-year-old school teacher working on contract basis in a local unaided school, was found dead inside the Municipal School No.1 compound on July 22 in the afternoon. Circumstantial evidence and later investigations revealed that she was under stress since last six months and hence committed suicide by consuming toxin, Investigating Officer Sarika Kodape said while talking to ummid.com.
However, the case took a new turn Saturday when her brother Ishtiyaq Ahmed (34) lodged a complaint with the Malegaon City Police alleging that her sister was being raped and sexually molested by Syed Hashim Ali – a teacher who reportedly looks after the work of Serva Shiksha Abhyan (SSA) and other school board works sitting in the office located inside the Municipal School No.1 compound.
In his complaint, he also alleged that Shaikh Perveen, Javed Mehvi and Ashfaque Qaiser knew about the entire matter and were regularly threatening her with dire consequences if she did not stop from having relationship with Syed Hashim.
Shaikh Perveen runs Urooj Hobby classes for special children in the School No.1 compound where Atiya had committed suicide whereas Mehvi and Qaiser, the other two accused, are employed as teachers in local municipal schools.
"Promising to marry and assuring her a job in a government school, Syed Hashim raped her while three others continuously tortured her leading to stress forced by which she committed suicide", Ishtiyaq told the police.
Following the complaint, the police arrested Shaikh Perveen on Sunday while a search is on for the other accused who are said to be absconding.
"The investigation in the case is on. We have arrested Shaikh Perveen on Sunday and a hunt is on for main accused Syed Hashim and the other two", said Police Sub Inspector Sarika Kodape.
"While Syed Hashim has been charged under different sections of rape and sexual assault, the other accused including Shaikh Perveen are booked under section 306, 376 and 34 for abetting the suicide", she added.
Shaikh Perveen was later produced in the local court where she was sent to police custody for five days.
Allegations of sexual assualt and rape of school teachers have been raised in the city in the past also.
