Crude bomb explosion outside Pranab's Dhaka hotel

Monday March 04, 2013 03:06:45 PM, IANS

Dhaka: There was a crude bomb explosion Monday near the hotel where Indian President Pranab Mukherjee is staying. No one was injured.

While police have denied any reports of a bomb explosion, officials said a small cocktail bomb was flung by two motorcycle borne men outside the Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon.

"It was a crude bomb, more like a petrol bomb. We are trying to confirm it," said sources.

Mukherjee, who is on a three-day visit here and returns home Tuesday night, was inside the Sonargaon hotel when the incident took place in the afternoon.

The Jamaat-e-Islami is observing a two day strike to protest the death sentence of its leader.
