Mumbai: The first haj flight from Maharashtra for this year's haj will be flown on September 25 simultaneously from Mumbai and Aurangabad, Haj Committee of India CEO Ataur Rehman said while talking to the media on Tuesday.
"The talks with Air India regarding the final schedule of Haj 2013 are over. As per the final agreement, the first batch of hajis from Maharashtra will leave for Saudi Arabia simultaneously from Mumbai and Aurangabad on September 25", he said.
He also said that the first flight from Nagpur, another embarkation point in Maharashtra, will be on October 01, 2013.
He said a total of 1,25,420 hajis will perform haj from India this year travelling through Haj Committee of India. They will travel to Saudi Arabia by 12 Air India flights and 09 flights of Saudi Airlines. Some of the flights will go to Jeddah while others will take the hajis to Madinah.
"Of the total 1,25,420 hajis going through Haj Committee of India, 42,500 hajis will be accommodated under green category whereas the rest will be accommodated at Azeeziah", he said.
Controversies broke out between Haj Committee of India and Air India – the official Haj carrier of the country, first regarding the availability of flights, and later on the schedule. However, Rehman said all issues are now resolved and all the hajis from India will smoothly travel to Saudi Arabia for haj.
The first batch of hajis from India left for Saudi Arabia on September 07, 2013 from Srinagar in Kashmir. The flights are also taking hajis to Saudi Arabia from other embarkattion points in India like Bangalore, Banaras, Chennai and New Delhi.
