Tuesday September 17, 2013 11:56 AM, IANS

A minor communal flare-up erupted Monday evening here in the Taj city but was effectively contained, police said Tuesday.

The scuffle broke out in Taj Ganj area between two groups of youngsters on a trivial issue. It soon escalated into stone-pelting from both sides.

At least three people, including a priest, were injured. Some people were arrested after the incident.

Senior Superintendent of Police Shalabh Mathur and district officials visited the area after the incident.

Additional forces were rushed to the site to ensure peace in the sensitive area around the world heritage monument that daily attracts thousands of visitors.

"Everything is normal here... no tension. Last evening, there was a minor dispute which unfortunately spread, but police action saved the situation," Taj Ganj resident Prashant Baghael told IANS Tuesday.
