Malegaon: Aam Aadmi Party's Maharashtra leader Anjali Damania while addressing a rally in Malegaon Tuesday accused the Congress party of fooling the people especially the Muslims for political gains and questioned the oldest party's commitment towards the backwards and under privileged.
Blaming that the Congress is responsible for the poor representation of Muslims in the parliament and state assemblies, Damania said that Amrish Patel, the Congress candidate from Dhule, had called her with a request to drop the Muslim candidate from the Muslim dominated parliamentary seat.
"Amrish Patel had himself phoned her and requested not to field any Muslim from the Dhule-Malegaon parliamentary constituency", Damania said while addressing an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rally in Malegaon.
She said that 'tactical understanding' rampant in all political parties especially the BJP and Congress did not exist in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and after Amrish Patel's phone call, the party thought its decision to field a Muslim from the constituency is right and hence decided to go ahead with the candidature of Ansari Nehal Ahmed from the Dhule-Malegaon Lok Sabha seat.
"If the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) gets support of the people in the Lok Sabha election, the party will field a Muslim candidate from the Hindu majority area in the coming Maharashtra election and will make sure that the candidate wins", she said.
She also mocked the Congress party's appeal to vote against Modi and BJP. She said it is no more than poll plank as the Congress has miserably failed in controlling the communal forces.
"The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is fighting the communal forces, and its proof is the fight Arvind Kejriwal is giving to Modi in Varanasi", she said.
She also said that if the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) comes to power the party will stop harassment of Muslims in the name of terrorism.
"We will stop arrest of Muslims in the name of terrorism. Those who who are in jails their cases will be referred in fast track courts and they will be releases in six months", she said.
Earlier, the Dhule-Malegaon seat had strong protests after the Congress party denied the party ticket to a Muslim. The constituency has more than 35% Muslims.
