Srinagar: A loud explosion occurred close to an election rally here being addressed by senior ruling National Conference leader and Srinagar Lok Sabha candidate Farooq Abdullah Sunday.
Eyewitnesses said the explosion, some 50 m from the rally in the city's Khanyar area, sounded like a grenade explosion.
Abdullah, who was accompanied by other NC leaders, told the rally: "These explosions will not deter me and should also not deter you from coming out and voting for the National Conference."
Police said no one was hurt in the blast. No one has so far claimed responsibility for the explosion.
