Student loses vision in right eye after beating by teacher
Friday August 29, 2014 9:31 PM, IANS

A class IX student lost vision in one eye after being beaten by a teacher in a government-aided inter-college here.

Though the incident occurred Aug 21, the police registered the case Friday after the parents pursued the case for over a week.

Rajni, mother of student Krishna, 15 of Shumbhu Dayal Inter-College, said her son was completing his mathematics home work in the class Aug 21.

Suddenly, Hindi teacher Virendra Nagar entered the class and asked him what he was doing. She said that Krishna innocently replied that he was completing his mathematics work since the Hindi teacher was not in class.

This infuriated Nagar who hit Krishna on his back, slapped him many times before dragging him to the blackboard and banging his head on the wall. Soon, Krishna started bleeding from his right eyebrow.

The school management gave him first aid.

Next day Rajni, who is a labourer, took him to the government MMG Hospital where doctors refused to treat him.

The day after she took him to a private eye surgeon at Jyoti Clinic in Bajaria where the doctor said that as nerves had ruptured, Krishna had lost vision in his right eye.

Although he was taken to another eye hospital in Vaishali and then to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi, the response was the same.

After the police Friday agreed to register the case, the MMG Hospital also agreed to treat the student.

"Now the government MMG Hospital has referred the case to AIIMS, Delhi where we plan to go Saturday. The college management had earlier sent a letter saying it will bear all the treatment expenses but after registration of FIR, they not only withdrew the support but are threatening the family and my elder son who is studying in class XI in the same college," said Rajni.

SP City Shiv Hari Meena said: "We have registered the case under section 326, 323 and 506 of the IPC against Nagar who is at large and the college management. Raids are being conducted to nab him."
