ICSE 2017: Pune girl Muskan Abdullah Pathan shares top rank with Bengaluru's Ashwin Rao

Muskan Abdullah Pathan and Ashwin Rao have been declared joint toppers of the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Class X 2017 exams. Muskan and Ashwin both have scored 497 out of the total 500 (99.4%) marks, according to the ICSE 2017 results declared by the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) today afternoon.

Muskan Abdullah Pathan is a student of Pune’s Hutchings High School whereas Ashwin Rao studied at St Paul’s English School, Bengaluru.

Talking to Indian Express after result declaration a beaming Muskan Abdullah said, “I didn’t even finish amongst the top 10 in school until Class 8. Latr on, I suddenly picked up and became the school topper. It was at that time that I decided that I have to crack my Class X board examinations with top scores but even I couldn’t imagine that I would get the topmost rank."

The overall pass percetage is 98.52%, according to the statistics provided by the council.

This year, the board conducted the ICSE examination from March 10 to April 21 at various test centres.

A total of 2,50,871 students were registered for the examinations this year with 1,76,327 candidates registered for the ICSE and 74,544 for ISC examinations in 2017.

The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) declared online the results of the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Class X and Indian School Certificate (ISC) Class XII exams on its official and associate websites today at 03:00 pm.

The CISCE website however crashed possibly because of the heavy rush of candidates seeking to check their results. Trying to visit the CISCE website message that greets was this : "The service is unavailable."

To add to the pain of students eager to check their results, IndiaResults, partner website of different education baords to display exam results, flashes the message that ICSE/ISC results are declared along with two separate links. But both the links were inactive till 03:45 pm.

The CISCE official website, which crashed minutes after results were declared, is now up and the result can be accessed using following steps.

How to check ICSE Class X Results 2017

  • Click on the "Result 2017" on council's website: cisce.org
  • Click on the live link marked with 'ICSE'.
  • Enter your Unique ID and CAPTCHA exactly as you see in the box
  • Click on Submit button

How to check ISC Class XII Results 2017

  • Click on the "Result 2017" on council's website: cisce.org
  • Click on the live link marked with 'ISC'.
  • Enter your Unique ID and CAPTCHA exactly as you see in the box
  • Click on Submit button

The results will also be available via SMS. To receive the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Class X results by SMS, the candidate will require to type ICSE followed by their seven digit Unique ID code and send the message to 09248082883.

This is for the first time that the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CICSE) has offered DigiLocker facility to its affiliated schools to store digitally signed certificates and marksheets. The CICSE has also made a provision for candidates to apply for rechecking of marks.

The ICSE 2017 Class X exam was delayed after the Election Commission of India declared elections to five assemblies Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur. Due to this, the exam which was supposed to begin on 27 February was rescheduled for 10 March. Likewise the last date of the exam shifted and the exam concluded on 21 April.

In 2016 the results for ICSE and ISC exams both were declared on May 06. The overall pass percentage in 2016 for ICSE was 98.54% while the pass percentage for ISC was 96.56%.
