New Delhi: The farmers from Tamil Nadu who are protesting at Jantar Mantar since last more than 115 days on Wednesday reached the Prime Minister's house at Race Course Road, removed their clothes and blocked the regular traffic.
In the video posted on the internet, the protesting farmers are seen arguing with the security personnel posted outside Prime Minister Modi'd official residence.
When the security personnel stopped them, the farmers undressed them and laid down on the road disrupting the routine traffic.
According to Ayyakkannu who was leading the farmers, he was manhandled by a police official posted at the PM’s residence. A scuffle erupted following which security officials rounded them up, and were taken to Chanakyapuri police station.
The farmers arrested included Ayyakkannu(73), Prakash(28), Dhakjisina Moorthy( 45)John Melkeoraj(56), Lister(54), Paramasivam(53), Shiva(27) Murugan(31) Sudhakar(35).
Besides other demands, the farmers are demanding compensation for the losses incurred because of acute drought, loan waiver from the nationalized banks and remunerative price for the agricultural products.
