USPC Civil Services 2018 Result: A total of 27 Muslims have figured in the list of 759 candidates who have cracked the UPSC Civil Services 2018 Main exam result of which was declared at upsc.gov.in Friday evening.
The only Muslim who figured in top 10 is Junaid Ahmad. Junaid ranked 3rd in the all india Merit List. Junaid Ahmad hails from Nageena town of Uttar Pradesh. Belonging to a middle-class family Junaid completed his UPSC Civil Services coaching from Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi.
None of the 27 Muslims who passed the UPSC Civil Services 2018 exam are included in the first 50 or 100 except Junaid and Abdul Shahid. Abdul Shahid has secured the 57th rank.

Last year 56 Muslims had cracked the UPSC Civil Services 2017 exam. Of them 06 Muslims were among the top 10 in the list of 990 successful candidates.
In 2016, 10 Muslims were among top 100 and a total of 52 Muslims had cracked the coveted exam and were included in the list of 1,099 successful candidates (4.7%). In 2015, 34 out of the total 1,078 candidates were Muslims, in 2014 38 out of the total 1,236 were Muslims and in 2013, out of the total 1,122 successful candidates 34 were Muslims.
In 2012, 30 Muslims were among the successful candidates, four of them were among top 100. Similarly in 2011, 31 Muslims were among the 920 successful candidates. In 2009, among the 875 successful candidates, 21 were Muslims with Dr. Shah Faisal of Kashmir topping the exam at the national level.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday declared the final results of Civil Services Examination (CSE), 2018. A total of 759 candidates have been recommended by the Commission for appointment to various Services.
KANISHAK KATARIA (Roll No. 1133664) has topped the Civil Services Examination, 2018. AKSHAT JAIN (Roll No. 1104407) came 2nd and Junaid Ahmad (Roll No 0863569) came 3rd.
The UPSc said, based on the results of the written part of Civil Services Examination, 2018 held by the Union Public Service Commission in September-October, 2018 and the interviews for Personality Test held in February-March, 2019, following is the list, in order of merit, of candidates who have been recommended for appointment to:
(i) Indian Administrative Service; (ii) Indian Foreign Service; (iii) Indian Police Service; and (iv) Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’
"Appointment to the various Services will be made according to the number of vacancies available with due consideration to the provisions contained in the Rules for the Examination", the UPSC said.
Among those selected are 361 from General category, 209 from OBC, 128 SCs and 61 STs.
"The Commission is maintaining a consolidated Reserve List of 106 candidates. The candidature of 109 recommended candidates with Roll Numbers mentioned in the result sheet is provisional", the UPSc said.
