New Delhi: India added more than 150 Coronavirus positive cases and 03 more deaths related to the deadly virus on Monday taking the total deaths to 10 and number of Covid-19 infections to 499.
The first novel coronavirus death today was of a Filipino who died in Mumbai. The second death reported today was a 55-year-old man who died of Coronavirus in Kolkata. It was West Bengal's first Coronavirus related death.
Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh too recorded the state's first Covid-19 infected death when a 69-yr-old man who recently travelled to the United States died in a government hospital.
As many as 30 States and Union Territories covering 548 districts are under complete or partial lockdown to prevent the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
Maharashtra - the worst affected state by Coronavirus in India with a total of 97 positive cases as on Monday, has clamped curfew in the entire state.
Delhi is under lockdown and has restricted movement without curfew passes. Kerala has also announced complete lockdown.
On the other hand 03 states - Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, have announce closure of certain areas. Lakshadweep has announced lockdown on certain activities.
Across India, 80 districts including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bengaluru are on complete lockdown, which means only essential services will be allowed. Railways, metros and inter-state buses have been stopped and public transport has been banned in states including Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Bengal and Haryana.
Uttar Pradesh Monday reported 02 new Coronavirus positive cases taking the total to 33. The two new positive cases of coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh have been reported from Kanpur and Jaunpur districts.
In Gujarat, 01 more person was tested positive Monday. A total of 30 Coronavirus positive cases have been so far reported from Gujarat.
In Karnataka, 07 persons, including 06 from Bengaluru tested positive for coronavirus pandemic, taking their total number to 33 in the state.
With coronavirus cases spiking to 07, Punjab Governor-cum-Administrator of Chandigarh, V.P. Singh Badnore, on Monday decided to impose indefinite curfew as a precaution in the city, starting midnight.
Likewise, 06 of the 08 Northeastern states -- Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram -- have also declared lockdown to curb the coronavirus spread.
Koklata and other parts of West Bengal are also in lockdown. Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee had on Monday requested Prime Minister Modi to ban all inbound flights to the state.
Globally, about 360, 697 have been diagnosed with Coronavirus and as many as 15,488 people from all across the world have died after Covid-19 infection.
