New Delhi: Total number of Coronavirus (Covid-19) positive cases in India Wednesday crossed 600 marks taking the total infection to 603, out of them 546 are active, latest reports said.
As many as 11 people have so far lost their life due to Corona Virus. Reports of Coronavirus infection is coming from various states of India every 20-30 minutes.
Northeast India reports more Corona cases
Reprts coming from Aizawl and Imphal said, a 50-year-old man, a Christian pastor from Mizoram, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, making it the second case in the northeastern region of India, officials said on Wednesday.
In the first case in the northeast region, a 23-year-old woman, who had returned from the UK tested positive and she is now undergoing treatment at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal.
In the Mizoram capital Aizawl, National Health Mission (NHM) Director Eric Zomawia said that soon after receiving his test report of nCoV as positive late Tuesday night, the middle-aged man has immediately been taken to Zoram Medical College and Hospital in Aizawl and kept in isolation.
Gujarat on Wednseday reported 03 new coronavirus positive cases, taking the total count of COVID-19 patients in Gujarat to 38.
"Out of the three new cases found on Wednesday, one is from Ahmedabad with travel history of Dubai and the other two are one each from Vadodara and Surat getting infected locally. Till date Ahmedabad has 14 positive, Surat 7, Rajkot 3, Vadodara 7, Gandhinagar 6 and Kutch 1 positive cases", Jayanti Ravi, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, said.
On Wednesday, coronavirus positive cases in Madhya Pradesh went up to 15. Among them is a journalist who had attended in the last week a press conference called by former MP CM Kamal Nath. All those present in the press conference are quanatined, state health department said.
Among the 15 cases of Coronavirus positive in Madhya Pradesh, 04 new cases are from Indore and 01 is from Ujjain.
Sources said that three of the new coronavirus positive patients were from one family and had recently gone to Rishikesh in Uttar Pradesh. Authorities were now trying to trace all those who came in contact with them.
A Madurai man Wednesday died after he was tested positive for Coronavirus. With his death, Tamil Nadu recorded its first Coronavirus related death.
Tamil Nadu Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar in a tweet said the COVID-19 positive male patient in Madurai died at the Rajaji Hospital. The state has reported a total of 23 Corona virus positive cases as on March 25.
Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra also spiked Wednesday. Late in the evening Tuesday, reports of a Class 10 student getting infected by tCorona virus has alarmed the authorities. The student appeared in the SSC board exam along with 36 others - all of them have now been isolated.
On Wednseady, Maharashtra reported 15 new corona virus positive cases. With this the state's total surged to 122.
Four new coronavirus positive cases, including two healthcare personnel from Bhilwara, on Wednesday has taken the total number of cases in Rajasthan to 36, according to state health officials here on Wednesday.
Additional Chief Secretary (medical & health) Rohit Kumar Singh confirmed that of the four coronavirus positive case, two were medical staff members in Bhilwara.
While third case was from Jodhpur, the fourth case was of the person who got infected by the doctor who himself tested Covid-19 positive in Bhilwara, a few days back, he said.
The Jodhpur lady had travelled in train with two Covid-19 patients from Mumbai.
Four more persons tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday in Kashmir raising the number of infected patients to eight.
"Four more persons, all from Bandipora, tested positive today. Preliminary findings suggest they were close contacts of Srinagar patient who tested positive yesterday. All five reported to have participated in a religious event", Rohit Kansal, J&K government spokesman said.
With this, the number of positive cases in J&K has risen to 11 of whom eight are being treated in the Valley and three in Jammu city.
The domestic travel history of the Srinagar resident who tested positive on Tuesday has become a big worry for the authorities. Reports said he visited some places in Jammu city and then participated in a couple of religious events in the Valley.
Authorities have requested all those who might have come into contact with him to voluntarily come forward with the information. The Srinagar businessman who tested positive was part of a religious preachers' group.
In Haryana, a nurse working at a Gurugram hospital was tested positive for Coronavirus. Following the surge in Coronavirus positive cases, India announced a 21-day lockdown across the country from Tuesday mid-night.
