San Francisco: Tech giant Microsoft has integrated its AI-powered Copilot with a new feature to generate personalised songs of professional quality with a simple prompt.
For incorporating this feature in Copilot, Microsoft has partnered with Suno – an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based music creation tool.
The Cambridge-based AI music start-up offers a tool on Discord that can compose an original song, complete with lyrics, based on a text prompt. Copilot users will be able to access the same tool using the Microsoft chatbots in Copilot.
"Through this partnership, people will have at their fingertips the ability, regardless of musical background, to create fun, clever, and personalised songs with a simple prompt," Microsoft said in a blogpost.
"Suno has been a leader in AI music technology, pioneering the ability to generate complete songs -- lyrics, instrumentals, and singing voices -- from a single sentence," it added.
"We believe that this partnership will open new horizons for creativity and fun, making music creation accessible to everyone," Microsoft said.
In order to generate music, Copilot users only need to sign on to their accounts and enable the Suno plug-in — or click on the logo that says, “Make music with Suno.”
Users then need to think of a simple one- or two-line text prompt that describes their desired song, such as “create a folk song about Alaska summers” or “write a song about cats in the style of Cat Power” and type it into Copilot.
Suno will then generate an original song — normally a minute or two in length — complete with a transcript of the lyrics.
This experience has now started to roll out, and the company said it will ramp up in the coming weeks.
