Malaysia bans ZIM shipping over Israeli massacre of Palestinians

Kuala Lumpur: In another major setback for the Zionist regime in Israel, Malaysia has imposed docking ban on the Israel owned ZIM shipping company on all its ports, protesting the massacre of Palestinians by the Occupation Army.

Stating that Israel is committing “massacre and brutality” against Palestinians, the office of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in a statement said that the immediate ban on ZIM shipping company is in response to Israel’s actions against Palestinians in Gaza.

"At the same time, the government has also decided not to accept any ships flying the Israeli flag to dock in the country”, the Prime Minister said in the statement issued by his office, according to The New Straits Times.

"Additionally, a ban has been imposed on any ships en route to Israel from loading cargo at Malaysian ports. Both of these restrictions take immediate effect," Anwar Ibrahim said.

About ZIM

Haifa based Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd., commonly known as ZIM, is a publicly held Israeli international cargo shipping company, and one of the top 20 global carriers.

Vessel passage to Israel is already disrupted as Houthi Militants or Ansarullah fighters have vowed not to allow any Zionist linked or Israel bound cargo ship and vessel through Red Sea unless the bombardment of Gaza is stopped.

The Malaysian ban on ZIM shipping comes as the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) despite worldwide protest continue to bombard the civilian areas in Gaza targeting hospitals, residential buildings, mosques, churches and schools.

The Israeli Occupation Forces have killed more than 19,600 – over 70 per cent of them children, in the military offensive termed by the world leaders massacre and genocide.

"Online Petition"

The Malaysian ban on the Israeli shipping company also comes following an online petition asking the government to “ban Israeli owned ships from docking in Malaysia”.

“A Zim-owned ship is scheduled to dock at Westport on 26 December 2023. We call upon the Minister of Transport to immediately instruct the Port Klang Authority to refuse the ship from docking”, the online petition said.

“Failure to do so implies that the Malaysian government is not serious about stopping the atrocities being committed by the Zionist regime on the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank”, the petition that received over 26,000 signatures said.
