Rajkot (Gujarat): Sarfaraz Khan is being billed as the Team India’s New Run Machine after he scored 130 runs with the help of two 50s playing against England in his very first Test Match.
Debutant Sarfaraz Khan scored unbeaten 68 runs off 72 balls in his Second Innings in India vs England third Test Match of the season.
Sarfaraz Khan had scored the fastest 50 in the first innings of the Test, becoming only the 2nd Indian batsman after Hardik Pandya to score fastest fifty on debut.
Sarafaraz Khan also became only 4th Indian Cricketer to score fifties in both the innings on debut.
Besides Sarafar Khan, the Indian cricketers who scored two 50s in their very first test match are D.Hussain (59 and 57) made against England in 1934, Sunil Gavaskar (65 % 67) made West Indies in 1971 and S Iyer (105 & 65) scored against New Zealand in 2021.
Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal (214 runs) and Shubman Gill (91) laid the foundation for India's victory. India won the test by a huge 434 runs after England chasing a mammoth 557 runs got out on 122 runs. This is India’s biggest win ever by runs. With today’s win, India go 2-1 up in the five-match series.
Mumbai-born Sarfaraz Khan has been one of the most consistent performers in domestic cricket over the past few years. He was included in the Indian Squad against England for the third test.
Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma heaped praise on Sarfaraz Khan in the post-match press meet.
“Sarfaraz Khan is known for consistently playing some very important and long innings in domestic cricket. He appears to be hungry for runs”, he said.
“He impressed us all by his batting and fielding. It was nice to see him to be part of the Indian Cricket Team”, Sharma said.
