San Francisco: Elon Musk, CEO of social media platform X originally launched as Twitter, mocked the Facebook, Instagram and Thread outage Tuesday with a hilarious and funny meme.

Social media platforms Facebook, Instagram and the newly launched Threads Tuesday were down making the services unavailable to users for hours.

Meta acknowledged the outage and assured the users that services will be resumed soon.

“We're aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now”, Andy Stone, Meta Communications Incharge, wrote in a post shared on X.

SpaceX owner and automobile giant Elon Musk who recently bought Twitter and became a meme lord ever since, however could not wait and mocked the Meta outage with a funny meme. Check it out below.

Musk was later joined by X CEO Linda Yaccarino who teasingly said that Meta users ‘checking whether Instagram and Facebook are dead came over to X’.

Linda also retweeted a meme of Instagram users rushing to X to check if it’s also down.

Meanwhile, number of users on X Tuesday dramatically surged after the Meta worldwide outage – first of its kind in the year 2024.

Musk's meme mocking Meta in itself is viewed by over 100 million, liked by 1.3 million and re-tweeted by 169k social media users in less than 24 hours.

Down Detector which keeps track of internet and social media services said it received nearly 2 million complaints following the Facebook and Instagram outage.

The latest disruption in the Meta services was significant but not as huge as 2021 when the services outage was considerably more severe and set a new record for problem reports submitted.

Hours later, Andy Stone informed the users that the services were hit because of some ‘technical glitches’ that were resolved.

“Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience”, he wrote on social media platform X.
